MEET OUR CANDIDATES

Andrew Allen

Hello! My name is Andrew (Andy) and I am a candidate for First Year Representative at MULSS! While my other campaign related content may be a little silly, I want to reassure you of my commitment to the role.

Having met some of you around campus I can safely say that this group of students is an absolute blast! So many diverse and unique individuals that come from all walks of life to study the Juris Doctor.

Something so special should have its interests safe-guarded and protected in what is a busy and (honestly) overwhelming course and community here at MLS. It is my genuine interests to facilitate this undertaking in whatever way possible (regardless of being a part of MULSS or not!) as this group develops over the next few years.

A culture that is defined by inclusiveness, respect, diversity and, above all, positivity. I simply see this role as First Year Representative as an opportunity to capitalise on this passion, and I hope you do too! If you see me around, please come and say hello!

- Andy

Muskaan Dalmia

Hey guys! I’m Muskaan, and I am eager to announce my candidacy for the position of First Year Representative! I’m an international student from Singapore and have pursued a double major in History & Criminology during my undergraduate degree at the University of Melbourne.

Why Me?

If elected as your First Year Representative, I am committed to using my experience and passion to represent the interests of our first-year cohort. I understand the importance of creating a sense of community and belonging, especially during the transition into law school. As your representative, I will do my best to ensure that every member of our cohort feels heard, supported, and empowered to thrive in their law school journey.

Past Experiences

During my time at the University of Melbourne, I had the honour of serving as the President and Founder of the Pre-Law Society. In this role, I spearheaded initiatives aimed at providing valuable resources, guidance, and networking opportunities to aspiring law students.

Furthermore, I was the president of Hack Melbourne, a non-profit student organisation, where I had experience running large-scale intercollegiate competitions and educational events.

These experiences have allowed me to gain the confidence to be able to advocate for your interests and plan events to facilitate your transition into law school!

I am genuinely excited about the opportunity to serve as your First Year Representative and hope that you’ll consider voting for me!

James Ongkauko

Hi, I’m James Ongkauko, and I’m running for LSS 1st Year Representative.

I’m from Singapore but grew up in the Philippines, so I speak a few languages here and there. I’ve been in Melbourne for about two years and spend the majority of my time finding and sharing free food with my friends :)

I’m running for the position of first-year representative with the Law Students Society because I’m a big advocate for free food on campus, and I want to bring these benefits to the law school as much as we can eat! I’ve been a peer mentor and a student advocate for UMSU misconduct trials and am highly involved in student life.

I’m highly concerned with international student issues and welfare and am committed to generating a safe and inclusive environment for all members of the MLS community. Those who know me will understand that I’m always available to talk and offer help, and I hope that those who don’t will find a reliable and trustworthy supporter through tough times.

The biggest promise I can make is that as your representative, I will be wholly committed to hearing your voices, opinions, and issues. I’ll do everything I can to make our voices heard and ensure that we receive the representation we need at the table!
