Our aim is to connect students to the legal profession by organising expert panels, networking evenings and workshops so that MLS students can meet people in the industry and learn more about where the Juris Doctor degree can take them.
For more information on our events and opportunities join the MULSS Careers Facebook Page or email us at email@example.com
This year MULSS Careers will be hosting a Corporate Careers Panel and will be inviting Investment banks, Consulting Firms and other corporate organisations to attend. Later in the year we will have a Corporate Careers Workshop to help students prepare for applications opening early the following year.
This year MULSS Careers will be hosting a Government Careers Panel in Semester 1 where you’ll hear from lawyers working across both the Victorian and Federal Governments.
In Semester 2 there will be a Government Careers Information Session to help students prepare for graduate role applications opening early the following year.
Expert Panels are designed to give students an insight into specific commercial law practice areas and provide an opportunity for students to ask questions of leading practitioners.
Expert Panels run throughout Semester 1 and begin on Tuesday evenings at 6.30pm.
Each evening will consist of a moderated panel discussion followed by an audience Q&A and will conclude with a chance to network with firm representatives.
In 2021, the MULSS Careers Portfolio will host four Expert Panels:
– Mergers, Acquisitions and Capital Markets
– Commercial Litigation and Dispute Resolution
– IP and TMT
Seasonal Clerkship Seminars are designed to give you a deeper insight into individual firms, and to provide a forum to ask questions about recruitment, clerkship and graduate experiences, international opportunities and key practice areas.
Seasonal Clerkship Seminars are also a great opportunity to meet firm representatives.
In 2021, the MULSS will host a number of Seasonal Clerkship Seminars for sponsoring firms including:
– Arnold Bloch Leibler
– Baker McKenzie
– Clayton Utz
– Clifford Chance
– Corrs Chambers Westgarth
– Herbert Smith Freehills

Meet the Profession
Meet the Profession is the flagship networking event of the MULSS Career calendar! This evening is a great opportunity to meet representatives from leading law firms and to speak with them about what their firm has to offer.
Meet the Profession is an exclusive event for penultimate year students eligible to apply for clerkships in 2021/22. This year, Meet the Profession will be held on Tuesday 11 May 2021.
Beyond Law School
Ever wondered what it’s like to work in a particular area of law? Beyond Law School is a panel series that runs throughout Semester 2 and presents students with unique insights and perspectives into various legal practice areas. Guest speakers include professionals who have devoted their careers to pursuing and championing specific causes within that practice area.
Each panel addresses a topical subject matter. In 2021, the topics are:
– Family Law
– Bar and Advocacy
– Community Legal Centres
– Criminal Law
– In House Counsel
The Young Alumni networking evening presents an opportunity for Melbourne Law School students to speak directly with former students about their early careers pathways and experiences from across the legal profession and beyond.
Young Alumni is open to all JD students and will be held this year on Tuesday 14 September 2021.
