The 2010 Seasonal Clerkship Guide is now available online here. It's an optimised online edition so switch on "bookmarks" and use the hyperlinks.
It will be available in hardcopy on level 2 from Wednesday 26th May, so come up and grab your free copy.
Seasonal Clerkship Seminars & Mock Interviews
In conjunction with the release of the Seasonal Clerkship Guide, a series of seminars will be conducted featuring presentations by law firm representatives as to what they are looking for when they rummage through hundreds of applications. They will provide you with useful tips about the skills needed to maximise your chances of a successful application as well as insight into each firm’s focus areas and culture. We will also hold mock interviews between students and firm representatives to allow for constructive feedback and a feel for the type of questions asked in a real interview.
These seminars are free and open to all law students and will be conducted during lunchtimes. We encourage anyone considering taking a seasonal clerkship to attend.

The Meet the Profession Cocktail Evening is one of the most popular events run in the law school. The evening provides an invaluable opportunity for students to chat with and ask questions of firm HRs, partners and graduates before seasonal clerkship applications close. Come and chat to major law firms and organisations in a relaxed friendly atmosphere and enjoy a night of gourmet food and wine!
Meet the Profession is scheduled to be held on Thursday 13th May 2010 at 6:45pm at the Essoign Club, Owen Dixon Chambers East (205 William St, Melbourne), so put the date in your diary!
Tickets can be purchased from the LSS office on level 2 from Monday 3 May for $10 each (EFTPOS only). There is a limit of 150 tickets available.

Living Book Scheme Applications Semester One - CLOSE THIS FRIDAY
The Living Book Scheme provides students with free printed materials and textbooks. Selection is based on financial need.
If you would like to apply please download and complete an application form. Please follow the instructions on the form carefully.
Applications close this Friday at 5pm.
Late applications will not be considered.

Applications for LBS Semester One will open on Monday 15th February 2010.
Pick up an application form from just outside the LSS office on Level 2 of the law school or download the application form from the living book scheme page.
Apply as early as possible in order to avoid ordering delays.
Applications will close at 5pm Friday 12th March 2010. Late applications will not be considered.
Living Book Scheme Applications Summer Semester 2010 Open
The Living Book Scheme provides free legal textbooks and printed materials to law students facing financial difficulty. For more information visit the Living Book Scheme page. Note the scheme is open to both JD and LLB students.
Application forms are available online or from outside the LSS office - if you are considering applying, please do so as early as possible so that we can get your texts to you on time!
Change in Corporation Law STS Timetable
There has been a change in the STS timetable for Corporations Law. The tute in week 11 will be held on Monday 19 October, 1-2, Room 223 (instead of Wednesday 21 October). Sorry for any inconvenience.

Thursday, 10 September 2009, 6pm at the Federal Court
Come and experience mooting at its very best as the two most worthy adversaries do battle in the arena of the Federal Court before three esteemed Federal Court judges.
Surely we will see the greatest exchange of ideas, the greatest dialogue, the greatest discussion.

Living Book Scheme - Application deadline TOMORROW
Applications for the Living Book Scheme in Semester 2, 2009 is due tomorrow (July 31st, 5pm). You can download the application here. Applications must be submitted in hardcopy to Ben McCarthy in Student Financial Aid (Ground Floor, Baldwin Spencer Building) in an envelope marked "LSS Living Book Scheme".
For existing recipients who have filled in our online 'Book Request Form', we are currently processing requests and you will individually receive a confirmation email once books are delivered to the LRC. Please be advised that due to high demand, books for Corporations, Remedies and Trusts will take up to 2 weeks to arrive (pending Bookshop orders).

This program offers students an insight into Mallesons’ day-to-day operations.
The Insight program is aimed at law students who are not yet ready to apply for a seasonal clerkship i.e. 3rd year or equivalent. There will be a limited number of places in the 2009/2010 Melbourne Insight program.
The program consists of 4 interactive sessions at the Mallesons offices in Bourke Place. It will commence in early September 2009 and will conclude in first semester 2010.
