The Melbourne University Law Revue is an annual sketch comedy show that will take place in early August this year. It’s written and performed by Melbourne University students and beyond, and every year aims to deliver topical, satirical, and hilarious comedy moments, and a show to remember.
This year the show is being produced by current JD students Devon Hughes and Sarah-Jane Spry, and directed by Revue legends Luke Rocca and Charlie Lewin (both of whom are the "ha ha" AND the "he he" kind of funny).
Don’t be fooled by the name, the Law Revue is in no way limited to Law "in-jokes" and law students. Nor is it the Journal of a similar name – our content is considerably more amusing and it doesn’t require an encyclopaedic knowledge of the Australian Guide to Legal Citation (the dread AGLC 3). You can check out some of our video sketches on our Youtube channel and enjoy some comedic relief from those mid- and end-of-semester assignments you should be studying for.
Proceeds of the Revue are also donated to charity: in 2015, the Revue proudly supported the Tristan Jepson Memorial Foundation, which raises awareness of the mental health issues in the legal profession. This year, the Revue seeks to continue its support of this Foundation and the work that they do.
If you’re interested in joining the Revue, auditions will run on March 1st, 2nd and 3rd (register online at www.thelawrevue.com or via Facebook ) or walk in (information available via Facebook). Applications for crew are also welcome: email email@example.com
We will also be running an Information Session about the Revue on Feb 16, 1-2pm in GM17 - so come along if you have any questions or are curious!
